Head of School

Margaret Noecker, M.Ed.

Margaret Noecker holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Houston. Her education course work was in early child and educational psychology. She received a Master of Education degree from Houston Baptist University in 2001. Margaret has been at The Parish School since 1983 in the capacity of a teacher, mentor teacher and Academic Coordinator.


Margaret’s passion is helping children through early identification and intervention. Her ultimate goal being that these children will discover and develop their own unique strengths upon which they can rely in order to succeed in school and in life. Margaret has always believed in educating the whole child by nurturing the self-directed learner in each of them.


As Head of School, Margaret manages The Parish School and the Carruth Center, Inc. She enjoys the challenge of balancing the needs of Parish School children with the need to keep a multi-disciplinary staff learning the most effective research based interventions. Margaret looks forward to continued growth for The Parish School and the Carruth Center as places that teach children how they learn best and remain a resource for families and professionals that serve children.


Margaret serves on the Board of Directors for School of the Woods, the Board of Directors for Houston Chapter of the International Dyslexia Association, and on the Camp for All Partner’s committee. Margaret also served as leader of the Special Schools Coalition from 2008 to 2011 and is an active participant in the Houston Association of Independent Schools.


Margaret was the recipient of Houston Association of Communication Disorders’ 2008 May Is Better Hearing and Speech Month Award. Additionally, she was recognized for her 25 years of service at the 2008 Parish School Luncheon at which she was awarded “Margaret Noecker Day” by the City of Houston and Mayor Bill White.

Principal

Nancy Bewley, M.A.T., CCC-SLP

Nancy Bewley works directly with the teachers, students and families with all issues dealing with curriculum and instruction. Nancy holds a B.S. degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences and a M.A.T. degree in Speech Pathology, both from Indiana University. She is a certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, as well as a certified and licensed early childhood educator. Nancy has extensive experience working with very young children in a variety of settings, and has formerly taught the Level A class at The Parish School. Her peers on the staff elected Nancy Teacher of the Year in 2000-2001.


Nancy has served on the Board of Houston Association for Communication Disorders as VP of Recording and Reporting, President-elect, and President.


She is a member of American Speech and Hearing Association, Texas Speech and Hearing Association, Houston Association for Communication Disorders, International Dyslexia Association, Houston Branch of International Dyslexia Association, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
