Children served at The Parish School are of average to above average ability with language/learning differences. These children are able to benefit from our child to teacher ratio of 5 to 1. Children are considered for placement year-round and can be admitted through March if an opening exists. Our classes are multi-aged groupings focusing on developmental strengths and weaknesses.

About

Program Highlights:

• Early Intervention

Our early intervention program for "at risk" children provides consistency and concrete, reinforced receptive and expressive language experiences. The goal is to teach to the strengths of each child before he or she fails, experiences frustration, becomes angry, exhibits behavioral problems, tunes out and gives up or suffers a loss of self-esteem.

• Professional Staff

All teachers for early childhood and preschool have advanced degrees in speech/language pathology, complemented by a special education/early childhood specialty. The teaching staff of Kindergarten through fifth grade are all certified in speech/language pathology, special education or elementary education.

• Student/teacher ratio is 5 to 1 With a maximum of 8 per class in the early childhood program and 10 per class in the preschool through fifth grade, children at The Parish School receive individualized treatment well as group opportunities.

• Parent Education/Advocation Parent education and involvement is considered a fundamental part of the program. Monthly meetings are scheduled for this purpose. Individual parent conferences, circulation of pertinent articles and opportunities for parent interaction are provided throughout the year. Through these experiences, parents learn to be advocates for their children.

Financial Information

Tuition

The appropriate placement for a child is determined during the admissions process. Several factors affect the cost per level including the number of children, the number of teaching staff, and additional programs at that particular level.

Tax advantages

Consult your tax advisor regarding deductions for

  1. 1. Medical or therapy expenses (for articles on this, please see our Resources page)

  2. 2. Child care tax credit (Pre-K)

Managed Care

Tuition payments are divided into two parts. A portion is paid to The Parish School and a portion is paid for clinical services to Carruth Center. This clinical services portion is called Group Language Treatment (CPT Code 92508). This portion (30% or more of each school day) is eligible for insurance reimbursement.

Our staff offers assistance in maximizing insurance benefits. For tips on insurance reimbursement, please visit Carruth Center’s web site.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available for the families of Parish School children during the regular academic year and the summer school program, as well as for Parish children who need the services of the Carruth Center.

The Financial Aid Committee of The Board of Directors reviews and processes requests for financial assistance funds. Awards are based on the availability of funds and on a sliding scale of the family’s financial status and need. Application for financial assistance may be made at any time.

The Parish School provides financial assistance for qualified children of any race, color, religion, and ethnic origin.

Families can apply for financial assistance by filling out an application made available by Financial Aid for School Tuition.
