Camp Enrollment Information

Thank you for your interest in The Parish School Summer Camp Program. Our morning and afternoon programs have filled quickly this year and most are now full. If you would like your child's name to be added to our waiting list, please call 713-467-4696.

The 2008 Parish School Summer Camp program will be held June 9th through July 3rd. The Parish School's well-reputed Camp Acorn focuses on children with language/learning differences and average to above average abilities. Camp Acorn activities focus on language development and social skills in a literature rich, multi-sensory environment. The program serves as a boost for children’s communication skills and pre-academic/academic skills.

Children who do not require intervention for special learning needs may attend The Parish School's day camp program. Camp Acorn daycamp features fun, creative camp activities led by energetic, professional camp facilitators at the cost of more traditional camp programs. All activities are designed to promote making friends, developing self-esteem and having fun!

The Parish School's Camp Acorn runs Monday through Friday for children with developmental needs from age 18 months through 10 years. Morning and full day classes are available for most levels. For questions regarding either of our camp programs, send an email to Rhonda Bachicha.

Summer uniforms are required for all children attending The Parish School's Camp Acorn. The uniform is a school t-shirt and shorts. Two t-shirts are provided with your camp fees and additional shirts are available for purchase.

Camp Acorn

Offered on the beautiful 17-acre campus of The Parish School,  Camp Acorn provides a positive, nurturing atmosphere in which your child can have fun while developing new skills and a higher self esteem.  TWO PROGRAMS AVAILABLE:

The LANGUAGE PROGRAM:   Designed for children who are developmentally between the ages of 18 months and 10 years with language or learning differences and an average to above average learning potential.  We offer small class sizes with a maximum of 10 children in a class and 8 children or less in our youngest levels.  Our adult to child ratio is also very low, with 3 adults per 8 children in the youngest level and 2 adults per 10 children in the oldest level.  Language intervention to increase receptive language, expressive language, or pragmatic language (social) is provided within the classroom setting by a Speech Language Pathologist.  Both language and academic goals are targeted within the natural day to day classroom activities, such as circle, academics, story, play, snack, or outside times.

The DAY CAMP PROGRAM:   Designed for children who are 2 years to 5th grade with no learning differences and who fall within the typical developmental ranges for their age.  This program also features small class sizes (a maximum of 12 students) and a smaller teacher to student ratio (ranging from 1/6 to 1/10).  Children engage in a variety of hands-on motivational camp activities in a positive, nurturing environment.  Children attending The Day Camp program benefit from an exceptional camp staff trained to help children develop academically, socially, and physically.  Activities include sports and movement, art, story time, dramatics, science/ nature activities, cooking, music, and developmentally appropriate academic activities.   We work to increase self-esteem, develop problem solving skills, inspire creativity, expand social skills, and develop organizational skills.  The Day Camp Program is a perfect solution for families that have another child attending The Language Program and need a more cost effective and convenient camp solution for a sibling who does not need language intervention.

EXTENDED DAY (12:00-3:00)AVAILABLE FOR $200 FOR MOST LEVELS:

Activities include an exciting variety of extra curricular activities including music, science, cup stacking, drama, gymnastics, art, and more!
