Adult Education: How might we think about the role risk plays in learning and life? A common way is to view risk in a negative light. Another way to view risk, however, is to recognize that taking risks is often necessary and beneficial to learning and creative expression. The purpose of this talk is introduce the idea of beautiful risks and clarify how such risks makes sense in the context of learning and life. Dr. Beghetto will also provide tips for how parents can encourage and help their children take beautiful risks.

This talk will introduce the idea of beautiful risks and clarify how such risks make sense in the context of learning and in life. Dr. Beghetto also provides tips for how parents can encourage and help their children to take beautiful risks.

About Dr. Beghetto: An internationally recognized expert on creative thought and action in educational settings, Dr. Ronald Beghetto is a Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Connecticut, Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Creative Behavior, and is a Fellow of the American Psychological Assiciation. His work highlights how making slight changes to existing practices can result in new ways of thinking and acting. He has published six books and over 100 articles and chapters on topics related to creativity and education. His newest book, Big Wins, Small Steps: How to Lead For and With Creativity is published by Cowin Press.
