Parent education is part of the total experience at The Parish School. We believe that parent education is essential to the growth and development of every child. For these reasons, we hold Parent Education sessions for Parish families on topics such as recognizing a developmental delay, financial planning, sensory processing, and many more!
Parent Resource Library
Many of our families commute to The Parish School from all over the greater Houston area and may be unable to attend sessions in person. For our parents’ convenience, The Parish School has a Parent Resource Library located inside the administration building full of books and DVDs for self-study that can be checked out at the front desk and count toward Parent Education credits. Resources are limited and items are checked-out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Short-term counseling services are provided to all Parish School families by a master's level, licensed clinical social worker and registered play therapist. Confidential and free of charge, these services help bridge school, home and community. By promoting collaboration among all involved, we develop innovative solutions to support whole child success.
Because we believe parents also learn from each other when supporting the school, active participation on the PTO or helping with school events is highly encouraged. Many Parish families have built lasting friendships and support networks by coordinating carpools, attending social events or parent educations, and just getting to know other school families.
