Greetings Parish Families,
It is hard to believe that we are just six weeks away from the start of a new school year! I hope that you continue to enjoy your summer and have been able to spend some time with friends and family, travel and/or just take pleasure in a less harried schedule. Here at school, we hosted a very successful Camp Acorn in June and are now focusing on some summertime maintenance projects around campus.
The Parish School’s administrative team has been busy planning for the 2022–23 school year, and we are very excited about what is to come!
Thanks to our PTO funding classroom enhancements and SEEDS for Growth Annual Fund, Elementary students will benefit from expanded math resources, nature studies materials, and literacy resources storage for better access to name a few. Early Childhood students will see enhancements in social emotional curriculum resources, outdoor learning environments and more! Teachers across grade levels will benefit from continued professional development, enriching the intervention your children receive each day. Thank you for your support!!
We have also been developing a new website that, hopefully, will be live in early August. We think it will be more user friendly on mobile devices and aesthetically pleasing. It will still house the Parish Portal at the same address, parishschool.org. We are also excited to announce that in May, the Board of Trustees approved our new mission statement, “To empower children who have communication delays and learning differences to thrive through whole-child education, innovative therapy and access to nature.” We believe this best describes the Parish experience and we will strive to live and learn as our mission states.
As we continue to adjust with the reality of COVID in our lives, we wanted to remind you that we will not be offering a remote learning option for the 2022-23 school year. In the interest of upholding both safety precautions and avoiding unnecessary closures, we will be moving to a symptom-based strategy to keep students in school learning and our community safe. You will continue to be notified if your child has had a direct exposure to COVID, however, communication about cases campus wide will cease. Please review the COVID policy updates, which are available at www.parishschool.org/covid19.
I know you are eager to learn which classroom your child will be assigned to, and we are working on establishing academically, developmentally and socially appropriate groupings. Please be patient as we work through this process. Class placements will be communicated in late July.
Student forms and the parent handbook acknowledgment will be completely digital again this year. You should have received an email to complete student forms on the Parish Portal. These forms are required for your child to attend the first day of school and are due no later than Monday, August 1. If you have specific questions, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that The Parish School is closed July 5–29, and The Carruth Center is open with limited services throughout the month of July. Campus officially reopens Monday, August 1. There have been a few small changes to the school calendar since it was finalized last school year. You can view and subscribe to the school calendar at www.parishschool.org/school-calendar.
