Q&A With “Giving Voice to Children” Luncheon Keynote Speaker, Ron Beghetto, PhD
The Parish School is excited to welcome Ronald Beghetto, PhD, Professor of Educational Psychology, University of Connecticut, as the Keynote Speaker for the 10th Annual “Giving Voice to Children” Luncheon on Oct. 4, where he will present “Uncertainty as a Catalyst for Creativity.” In anticipation of his keynote address, we’ve been granted a special Q&A with Ron, where he reveals how he became an expert on creativity and a few take-aways from his upcoming presentation.

Makerspace Is Hub for Creative Learning and Exploration

For the 2018-19 school year, The Parish School will “formally” adopt Inquiry/Project-Based Learning across grade levels and curricula, even though, really, we’ve been doing it all along.

Over the years, schools have taught students to follow directions, get along with others, work hard and be professional. All are still necessary skills. But to hold information-age jobs, students also need the ability to think deeply and critically, solve problems, work in collaborative environments, communicate clearly in various media (email, phone, social media, face-to-face), learn ever-changing technologies, and deal with a constant flood of information.
